GREEN SKILLS TALKS & BROADCASTS

Running throughout March and April 2022, we will be hosting a series of broadcasts and talks with eminent leaders from across the green skills industries. These broadcasts and talks to young people will showcase the breadth of roles and career choices that the green skills industries offer, with a focus on issues relevant to the green agenda.

Our broadcasts are scheduled in advance and are available to anyone to join online. This year the speakers giving broadcasts include:

• Chief Executive of Keep Britain Tidy, Allison Ogden-Newton OBE

• Producer at the BBC Natural History Unit, Paul Williams

• CEO of Fidelity International, Anne Richards

• Executive Vice President and General Manager of Unilever UK and Ireland, Sebastian Munden

• Chief Executive of Surfers Against Sewage, Hugo Tagholm

Our in-person and virtual talks are scheduled in advance and are run as private audiences between one speaker and one school. These sessions are not recorded or available for others to join. Schools wishing to host an in-person or virtual talk must be registered for our Inspiration programme and submit a request to host a talk for this campaign. Speakers already scheduled to give in-person and virtual talks this year include:

MORE ABOUT HOW OUR TALKS & BROADCASTS WORK

​

Our in-person talks are between one speaker and one school that take place physically at the school site whereas our virtual talks are between one speaker and one school using a video calling platform. We recommend that Speakers for Schools in-person and virtual talks are between 40mins and one hour long. These talks can take many formats. However, we have found that there are two main formats to be considered for an impactful talk – talk with Q&A or an interview format.

Our broadcasts are online live broadcasts that take place either during the school day or outside of the school day (timings of broadcasts may change in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure we are best able to support young people). Broadcasts are available to all schools and young people will not be required to download apps or software to access events. These sessions are generally recorded and added to the broadcast library on our website for anyone to view at a later date.
